In the aftermath of a devastating dam spillage that wreaked havoc in several Constituencies, including North Tongu Constituency, Dada Foundation-Ghana took action to bring much-needed relief to the affected communities, through the kind support of Ghana West Africa Medical Mission (GWAMM) and Wisconsin International University College-Ghana (WIUC-GH). Partnering with the local authorities, we facilitated a generous donation of 200 boxes of rice and 1000 bags of sachet water today, 26 November 2023, providing essential sustenance to those grappling with the aftermath of the disaster.
The dam spillage not only displaced families but also led to a scarcity of vital resources. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Dada Foundation-Ghana collaborated with local authorities and community leaders to organize a targeted relief effort.
The donation of 200 boxes of rice is a testament to our commitment to addressing immediate nutritional needs. These carefully sourced and distributed provisions aim to bring a sense of normalcy and comfort to families grappling with the impact of the dam spillage.
Access to clean water is a fundamental necessity, especially in the wake of a natural disaster. Recognizing this, we donated the 1000 bags of sachet water to ensure that the communities affected by the dam spillage have access to safe and clean drinking water and mitigating the risk of waterborne diseases in the aftermath of the disaster. By providing clean water, we contribute to the overall well-being and health resilience of the affected population.
The donation was received by the Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency. In expressing gratitude, the MP emphasized the critical role that such support plays in rebuilding and revitalizing the community. The donation was presented by Mr Jacob Fynn, Ag. Executive Director at Dada Foundation-Ghana, on behave of GWAMM, WIUC-GH , and Dada Foundation-Ghana. The rice was sourced from Matter NGO, a key sponsor of GWAMM.
The timely intervention by our esteemed partner, GWAMM and the generous donation of rice and sachet water will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of our people. This collaborative effort demonstrates the power of unity and compassion during times of crisis.
As the waters recede and the communities of North Tongu Constituency and surrounding towns embark on the path to recovery, our Dada Foundation-Ghana remains committed to providing ongoing support. Plans are underway for sustainable initiatives, including rebuilding efforts, infrastructure development, and long-term community empowerment programs.
Together, we are not only addressing immediate needs but also laying the foundation for a resilient and empowered community. As we navigate the path to recovery, our commitment to standing with the people of North Tong Constituency and surrounding towns remains unwavering, driven by the belief that collective compassion can heal and rebuild even the most affected communities.
