Visit to NICUs in Tema and Accra

As part of core activity in improving Mother and Child health, Dada Foundation-Ghana in Partnership with Lorna Owens, founder of Footprints Foundation, USA, and Ghana Registered Midwives Association visited some NICUs and Maternity homes in Tema and Accra on 26th June, 2025.

The visit was to ascertain the state of maternity facilities in the area and how best we can support the operations and initiatives of NICUs and Maternal homes following the current rate of maternal and infant mortality in Ghana

The first visit was to Tema General Hospital’s NICU and maternity unit where we had the chance to interact with Paediatricians, nurses, midwives and caregivers. The team subsequently visited The Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and malnutrition clinic and deliberated on some key challenges and the way forward to alleviate their plights.

This exercise was coordinated by Emmanuel Ofosu-Amoah, Health Coordinator, Dada Foundation.  Also in attendance was Mrs Priscilla Mansa Fynn, the Programs Director, Lorna Owens, Madam Ayesha Oppong and other representatives from the Ghana Registered Midwives Association (GRMA).
